SUMMER HAIRCARE ROUTINE

Summer has set in & so has an array of hair problems! Without a doubt summer is a time when we need to take extra care of our hair & scalp. So here we are, up with summer hair care routine that will make your hair healthy & make you look gorgeous. So without further delay, here’s the list of do’s & don’ts for your summer hair care routine:

1. COVER YOUR HAIR

Use a scarf or hat to cover your head when you’re out in the sun. Not only does this provide extra UV protection, but it also helps your scalp to retain moisture plus, it protects your hair from dust, dirt & pollution. Covering up your hair also prevent damage caused by wind, hence reducing tangling & breaking of hair.

2. CONDITION YOUR HAIR

Your hair gets just as thirsty in the hot summertime as you do. So why not treat it to a little moisture-rich refreshment? Switching your shampoo and conditioner to moisturizing formulas and using hair oil or serum on the ends will help restore parched locks. 3. WASH YOUR HAIR LESS

Frequent washing strips your scalp of its natural oils, which in turn stimulates additional oil production and makes you feel the need to wash it even more. Try just rinsing in the shower after a day at the beach or pool, and see if that gets rid of some extra oil. Use a homemade or natural dry shampoo, such as corn starch, in place of regular shampoo to go a bit longer without washing. Another quick fix is to dab a cotton ball soaked in witch hazel along your scalp to dissolve excess oil. However, if you have the type of oily hair that can’t go long without washing, switch to a mild shampoo instead. Suds up just your scalp and let the soap run through the rest of your hair. This will help keep the drying out to a minimum.

4. AVOID USING HEAT

You don’t need to add to the problem by using more heat to style your hair. Tis the season to ditch the hair appliances! Your hair dryer is the first culprit. Leave it in the drawer and instead use a microfiber towel to blot your hair dry. This will help avoid frizz and absorb as much water as possible. Next, opt to air dry while you finish the rest of your morning routine. And while you’re at it, leave your curling iron and straightener in the drawer as well. Embrace your natural texture or add in a sea-salt spray to give your hair that summer care-free style.

5. KEEP YOUR HAIR MOISTURISED

Just like your skin, your hair needs an extra dose of hydration during the warmer months, too — especially if you’re using clarifying products. To ensure hair is hydrated, start by distributing a quarter-sized amount of conditioner through dry hair prior to getting in the shower, then take a nickel-sized amount of the scrub and massage directly onto your dry scalp. Hop in the shower and continue massaging the scrub into your scalp, then let it rinse out.

6. USE HOT OILS

Use hot oils like Coconut, olive, and avocado oils are good at penetrating the hair shaft. Shampoo hair as usual, then massage in oil from ends to roots, make sure the oil is a bit hot than the room temperature. Rinse, then condition as usual. Your hair should feel moisturized afterward, but not greasy. Massage your scalp gently everytime.
